Why Atzmi Professional Development?
Atzmi’s mission is to safeguard the mental health of young people via empirically-tested programming that is culturally sensitive, holistic, empowering, and works toward the prevention of eating disorders.
Atzmi envisions a future where every young person embraces a profound sense of self-compassion, unwavering body acceptance, and a deep connection to inner well-being. Atzmi aspires to cultivate a community where the prevalence of eating disorders is minimized, self-acceptance flourishes, and each girl is empowered to discover and appreciate her unique and authentic self.
As per our non-discrimination policy, Atzmi does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, national origin (ancestry), or gender. Atzmi makes its programming, including professional development, available to all K-12 education institutions regardless of religious affiliation.
What We Offer?
Atzmi’s professional development offerings are designed to be meaningful and valuable to all education institutions and their staff. Sessions are based on our extensive research and seek to empower teachers, school social workers, and mental health professionals with much needed information to help them best help their students.
Unlike Atzmi’s in-school workshops which are designed to address the unique needs and sensitivities of Orthodox Jewish adolescent females, our professional development offerings are not aligned to any specific religion and are not targeted to any specific group, religious or otherwise.
Topics include:
Understanding eating disorders
Signs and symptoms of eating disorders
How to safely discuss thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
The Appearance Ideal, and body image
Shame around our bodies
How our surroundings affect us
Creating a healthy and nutruging classroom
What to do if you suspect that there’s a problem
